🔦 THE END OF SOCIAL MEDIA AS WE KNOW IT?
Have you ever stressed about coming up with the perfect social media post?
Well those days may be over soon.
LinkedIn has announced that it’s beginning to use AI to help its users create more engaging content.
The company has started sharing "AI-powered conversation starters". This is being done with the goal of encouraging discussion among its users.
Yes, social media platforms have been using AI to steer users' attention for years. (most social feeds are driven by AI relevance)
But this marks the first time a major platform has intentionally served users AI-generated content.
We don't want to sound doom-and-gloom, but this might mean the end of social media as we know it.
Not to fear though! As one door closes, another opens.
Perhaps to a new form of online entertainment? Time will tell.
🔦 DISCORD GIVES THEIR BOT ‘CLYDE’ THE AI TREATMENT
Discord is integrating ChatGPT technology into its platform.
This includes its beloved ‘Clyde’ bot, moderation tools, and other platform features.
Clyde, which has been around for years, is being transformed into a chatbot. This will allow it to answer questions and have conversations with users.
Discord is also experimenting with other tools:
AI-generated conversation summaries and an AI-powered AutoMod (its autonomous moderation tool).
The Discord team is taking a cautious approach by rolling out these features to alpha folks first.
They are asking for feedback to tweak and tune the models, before giving all Discord users access to them.
One of the bigger concerns may center around the spreading of false information via the AutoMod.
However, Discord is confident that its AI experimentations will not be in vain.
Their hope is to provide engaging and fun interactions with both consumers and researchers alike.
